Greenwich House Pottery's terra sigillata is made in small batches in-house with a process that takes several days.

Terra sigillata, also called “Terra Sig” or “Sig” is applied to greenware with a soft brush. If you desire a burnished finish, apply sigillata to a bone-dry pot, a few square inches at a time. When the area has lost its surface moisture but is still dark, rub with a soft cotton cloth, plastic bag over your finger, the back of a spoon, or a stone. You may apply several coats, but more than two can cause the sigillata to flake. Terra sigillata does not work well under glazes because its dense burnished surface is less porous and therefore is less easy for glaze to adhere. The ideal firing temperature range is cone 04-cone 02 to maintain burnishing but it can be fired up to cone 10.

Top tier. The particle size is incredibly fine. I used it on a leather-hard vase and the burnishing process was actually enjoyable, not a chore. Gives a nice satin sheen before firing too. Highly recommend for anyone who wants their pots to look expensive.

Arrived with a leak. Half the quart was gone. Customer service was okay, but I needed this for a deadline. Frustrating.

I’ve tried DIY sigillata and it was a mess. This GHP quart saved my sanity and my shelves. The color development after firing is consistent and rich. Honestly, if you’re serious about your ware, stop mixing your own and just buy this. It’s like buying pre-chopped veggies – yes, you can do it, but why suffer?

Smooth operator! This stuff glides on like butter. If you're tired of muddy results, grab this. It’s the real deal for that signature red gloss. My kiln loved it, and so did I.

Great product. A bit pricey for a quart, but the quality is there. Just wish the lid was easier to open after it dries a bit on the rim.

Finally, a clay slip that doesn't crack like my resolve on Mondays. The consistency is perfect right out of the quart. My pottery teacher asked where I got it, but since this is 'non-student' grade, I just winked. Worth every penny for that glossy, ancient-Roman vibe without the empire collapsing.

This terra sigillata is smoother than my pickup lines. Applied it to a bowl and the finish? Chef's kiss. No students allowed? Good, means I don't have to share my secret weapon.
